Training doesn't start untill there's blood on your trainers!

Just had new trainers and there's already blood on them, and yes it's mine and not some piece of roadkill I've run through!
If all goes to plan there should be no more blood as I have learnt my lessons from the past.....are you sitting comfortably, then I shall begin.....
It was 2007 and (after entering on a whim) I was training for my first marathon, each week I ran further so each week was a PB for distance, and each week I telephoned my mum and dad to tell them how well I'd done.
We finished our run at the Barton healthcentre as usual, and I happened to look down at my feet one was covered in blood, it was all over the front, I must have really hurt it. So I went home and sat there debating whether to take off my trainer, I had my usual converastion with mum and dad and mentioned the blood.
I was going to be 30 next birthday, but they still jumped in the car and came to investigate the bloody foot. So I finally took off the trainer and the bloodied sock and yes there was blood over my foot, so we cleaned the foot and looked for the cut.
I'm not sure if  I was more disapointed as the cut was so small, or more embarassed that my parents had come to patch up their wounded little soldier.
So the moral of the story, make such you cut your toenails a couple of days before your long run!!!!
